The Arvada App, in collaboration with Visit Arvada, the Arvada Chamber of Commerce and Olde Town Arvada, is launching resources to assist Arvada businesses during this uncertain time. Below is a list of these resources, followed by an email form where you as a business owner/manager, can register your business for any of these resources.

Colorado Tap House - Could be the next great thing coming to a neighborhood near you

After passing the Planning Commission vote on February 3rd, the next step towards, construction on the Colorado Tap House, will take place this coming Monday. On Monday, March 2nd, at 6:15PM, Erik and Jen Zeitlow, will present their comprehensive plan for the Colorado Tap House to the members of Arvada City Council. Per the public notice hearing announcement, the proposed location would be at 14982 West 69th Avenue. This location is currently a vacant lot, west of Indiana, along 69th Avenue.

Free tax prep assistance for low-income households, provided by DABC

As Tax Day 2020 gets closer and you begin getting those envelopes marked “TAX DOCUMENTS”, there are resources available to low income households, to file your taxes for free. The Denver Asset Building Coalition (DABC) operates free financial and tax preparation sites in the Denver Metro area.

Arvada Police investigating a shooting in the 8100 Block of Chase Drive

Just after 10:00PM on Thursday evening, the Arvada Police Department notified the public that they were investigating a shooting which occurred in the 8100 Block of Chase Drive. This is in the vicinity of Chase Drive and Ames Way, which is just north and west of 80th and Sheridan.

Jeffco Public Schools on 2-hour delayed start for Tuesday

City of Arvada announces plans to widen Ralston Road

On January 29th, the City of Arvada released a short video in reference to a project to widen Ralston Road. The project, which will be completed in two phases, is supposed to begin during the first quarter of 2020.

Olde Wadsworth closed as police attempt to arrest a suspect who has barricaded themselves

Olde Wadsworth is currently closed in both directions at 60th Avenue. The Arvada Police Department is currently working on a developing situation, involving a barricaded suspect who is wanted for felony warrants. Police advised that the suspect is contained in a single apartment in the area and that out of an abundance of caution, Arvada High School has been placed on lockout.

Officer involved shooting in the area of 56th and Marshall Street

At approximately 11:15PM this evening, the Arvada Police Department notified the community that their officers had been involved in a shooting. The shooting took place in the area of 56th Avenue and Marshall Street and the only updated provided was that the suspect was deceased and no officers were injued.

Police arrest 4 juveniles following pursuit

Just after 3:45PM this afternoon, the Arvada Police Department notified the public that they were involved with a pursuit of a vehicle, which had been stolen. The stolen vehicle was reported to be running and unattended at the time of the theft. The pursuit started in the area of 60th and Olde Wadsworth and per APD, the pursuit ended at 53rd and Wadsworth.

Second suspect arrested from December 14th shooting

The Arvada Police Department announced today that 25-year-old Joseph Saiz was arrested in reference to the December 14th carjacking and shooting which occurred in the area of 64th and Miller. A copy of the media release is posted below, which includes a list of charges against Saiz.

Highway 93 closed due to wind

Just after noon today, the Arvada Police Department notified the public that they had closed Highway 93 in both directions, between 64th Avenue and Highway 128. High winds are causing for dangerous travel conditions and have caused at least one semi-trailer to tip over while traveling. The semi-trailer which crashed is obstructing part of the roadway, which contributed to the decision to close the highway.

Suspect from armed robbery & shooting identified

The Arvada Police Department has identified the suspect in the armed robbery and shooting at 80th and Kipling, which occurred on Wednesday as 43 year-old Samuel McConnell.

Police responding to an armed robbery & shooting

At 9:05AM this morning, the Arvada Police Department notified the community that they were responding to an armed robbery which had occurred at the convenience store located at 80th Street and Kipling. According to police, shots were fired and at least one victim has been injured. Police are providing updates and the suspect description below will be updated as more information becomes available. If you see the described vehicle and/or suspect, please call 911.

There is currently a large police presence in the area of 58th Street and Kipling as the Arvada Police Department and other agencies search for suspects, following shots fired in the area of 64th and Miller. At approximately 9:30PM, the Arvada Police Department provided the following update.
