Police investigating homicide in the area of 44th Ave and Kipling

At approximately 5:30AM this morning, the Wheat Ridge Police Department announced they were currently investigating a stabbing. The stabbing took place in the area of 44th Avenue and Kipling Street and according to the release, the victim is deceased.

Serious head-on vehicle crash @ Kipling Parkway and Red Rocks

Members of the Arvada Police Department and Arvada Fire Department are on scene of a serious head-on motor vehicle crash on Kipling Parkway. The crash is at the entrance to Red Rocks, which is between 58th Avenue and Ridge Road. Expect almost a complete closure of the intersection. Please use alternate routes as emergency responders work on scene.

The Wheat Ridge Police Department is currently working on a vehicle crash on I70. Just after 5:00PM, Wheat Ridge PD advised of a crash on eastbound I70 at Ward Road. Traffic is backed up for all of east bound traffic and if possible, an alternate route is encouraged.

City of Arvada to host first open house for new development plans on Thursday

In May of this year the Arvada City Council adopted Land Development Code which will lead to planning and building three new developments in Arvada. These “sub-area plans” are defined as a type of long range planning for a limited geographic area within the City. These sub-area plans focus on goals and policies for topics such as land use, urban design, architectural design and transportation.

Arvada Police arrest suspect following violent homicide in Arvada

On August 29th, the Arvada Police Department responded to a residence in the 6400 block of Simms Street to check on Joseph Elsey, who had not been seen since August 24th. Officers attempted contact at the residence and eventually made entry to check on Elsey. Once entering the residence, officer found evidence of a “violent” act. Based on the available information, this included large amounts of blood and other evidence.

Traffic Alert: Police activity closes I-70 westbound from HWY 58 to 32nd Avenue

The Colorado State Patrol in Golden, Wheat Ridge Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are all working on an incident in the area of I70 westbound at HWY 58. Westbound I70 is closed between HWY 58 and 32nd Avenue and drivers are highly encouraged to avoid I70 as we head into the afternoon rush hour.

Suspects sentenced for 2019 “ambush for police” attack in Arvada

This past Wednesday, the court proceedings for the April 7, 2019 attack on an Arvada Police Department Officer concluded. This incident started at approximately 10:00PM on April 7th(2019), when police received a call, in reference to a sign blocking the road at 72nd and Beech Street. An Arvada Police Department Officer arrived in the area and with the assistance of a community member, began to attempt to move the sign from the roadway.

Just before 9:00AM this morning, members of the Arvada Fire Department and Arvada Police Department responded to a vehicle crash in the intersection at 72nd and Wadsworth. The Arvada Police Department sent an updated shortly after advising that the intersection “has been shut down indefinitely”.

The Arvada Police Department and Arvada Fire Department are both working on scene at a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of 64th Avenue and Olde Wadsworth. There is currently a detour in place as first responders work on scene. Avoid the intersection if possible as they continue working.

At approximately 12:20PM this afternoon, the Arvada Fire Protection District announced that they were sending equipment and firefighters to the Coors facility. They also posted several pictures of the Coors facility, with flames visible as firefighters continue to work this active scene. Firefighters from Fairmount FD, Golden FD and the Westminster FD are also on scene assisting.

Armed man “waving a gun” arrested after SWAT situation at 52nd and Garrison

There was a large police presence in the are of 52nd Avenue and Garrison, in reference to an armed suspect. Just after 9:00AM this morning, the Arvada Police Department announced that the male suspect, who had previously been barricaded in a residence, had been arrested. The incident started this morning at approximately 3:15AM, when officers were sent to a disturbance in the area. The suspect was descried as “waving a gun around” and was yelling “just shoot me”.
