Suspect arrested after attack at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office

This morning an adult male began an attack at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), located at 200 Jefferson County Parkway in Golden. The attack began as the suspect rammed a JCSO vehicle. The vehicle was a marked JCSO emergency vehicle and pictures of the scene indicate the suspect was driving a pickup. After ramming the sheriff’s office vehicle, the suspect then began breaking into two separate entrances, using a silver bar to break through the glass.

At approximately 11:30AM, the Wheat Ridge Police Department responded to a call for service near W. 44th Avenue and Parfet Street. At some point a suspect barricaded themselves in a shed in the area and refused to comply and exit. Just after 3:30PM, police provided an update that the SWAT team had been requested and is currently responding to assist.

Jeffco Public Schools announce plan for 100% remote learning

Jeffco Public Schools has updated their learning model and is preparing to transition students to 100% remote learning. Starting on Monday, November 16th all students in grades 6-12 will begin remote learning until at least winter break. Students in grades kindergarten through 5th will begin remote learning starting on Monday, November 30th, again until at least winter break.

Suspect sentenced to probation after seriously injuring a child during a 2019 hit-and-run

Last week, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office voiced their disappointment after a suspect was sentenced to probation for this serious assault on a child. On November 8, 2019 the 10-year-old victim was walking home from school with her 6-year-old sister. The two were walking on the sidewalk in the area of 58th Avenue and Carr Street in Arvada, when a vehicle drove over the curb and crashed into the 10-year-old.

Jeffco Public Schools has closed all school buildings and facilities today, due to inclement weather and road conditions. In addition, there will be no remote learning and employees do not need to report to work unless otherwise notified by their supervisors.

One person dead following a shooting in Jefferson County - Suspect arrested

Just before 10:30PM this evening, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announced they were currently investigating a shooting, which left one person dead. At approximately 8:00PM, deputies responded to the area of 50th Avenue and McIntyre Street in reference to a shooting. A victim was located and transported to an area hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

Police on scene investigating fatal vehicle crash on Kipling Street

At approximately 9:15PM this evening, the Arvada Fire Department and the Wheat Ridge Police Department responded to a crash in the area of Kipling Street and I70 Frontage Road. The crash involved a vehicle and a bicyclist and there was a large presence of emergency vehicles in the area.

Suspect formally charged in September 23rd homicide

The First Judicial District announced yesterday that 53-year-old Clinton Priest was formally charged for the stabbing incident which left one person dead on September 23rd. According to officials, officers with the Wheat Ridge Police Department were sent to Priest’s residence after receiving a call from Priest’s son. Priest’s son reported his father had just got home from a bar and had blood on his clothing and body.

Police investigating homicide in the area of 44th Ave and Kipling

At approximately 5:30AM this morning, the Wheat Ridge Police Department announced they were currently investigating a stabbing. The stabbing took place in the area of 44th Avenue and Kipling Street and according to the release, the victim is deceased.

Serious head-on vehicle crash @ Kipling Parkway and Red Rocks

Members of the Arvada Police Department and Arvada Fire Department are on scene of a serious head-on motor vehicle crash on Kipling Parkway. The crash is at the entrance to Red Rocks, which is between 58th Avenue and Ridge Road. Expect almost a complete closure of the intersection. Please use alternate routes as emergency responders work on scene.
